Hot Press

The hot press, installed at the Institute of Materials Processing, was
manufactured by the Electrofuel Manufacturing Co. in 1991. This hot press
is suitable for consolidating ceramic, intermetallic and metallic powdered
materials under vacuum or inert gas atmosphere at elevated temperatures.
The features of this press are briefly described below:
- Temperature up to 2200oC.
- Ram force up to 20 tons.
- Automatic ramping and soaking temperature control.
- 8"x 6"x 5" (L x W x H) homogenous heating zone.
- Continous inert or reducing gas flow through the chamber.
- Graphite dies with 1.5" and 2.0" diameter holes, or dies provided by
customer.
- Mechanical vacuum pump.
