Microwave Sintering
- The Microwave processing System is a models MCR 200, manufactured by
Wavemat, Inc.
- The unit is powered with a 2.45 GHz microwave generator with 300 to
3000 watts forward power.
- Maximum sample size is 15mm dia. x 15mm length.
- This microwave system can be operated with a tunable, single mode or
controlled multi-mode microwave cavity.
- The atmosphere can be controlled (N2, Ar, H2, or
other gases) at pressures from one atmosphere to 2.0x10-2
torr.
- Microwave heating offers many advantages over conventional heating.
Microwave sintering has a rapid processing time, two to fifty times
faster than conventional heating. There is also an acceleration of
sintering and diffusion in the material because of high electrical
fields; thus densification can occur at lower temperatures
