Vacuum Caster

Vacuum Caster
  • This unit was rebuilt by Ionex Corp. of Charlevoix, MI. in 1992.
  • The vacuum chamber is approximately 32 inches in diameter and 32 inches in length.
  • The chamber is equipped with separate manipulators for pouring the melt and the alloying elements.
  • There is a retractable thermocouple probe built into the unit. There is also and optical sight glass port for use with a pyrometer.
  • The chamber is equipped with a Sergeant-Welch roughing pump and a 6 inch diffusion pump. Pumping sequence and levels are controlled by a Granville Phillips 307 Vacuum Gauge Controller. Automatic valves are also in place for purging and backfilling the chamber with inert gas.
  • The vacuum caster is equipped with an Inductotherm Powertrak model 20-96 power supply.
  • The induction coil will accept crucibles up to 4 inches in diameter and 7 inches in length.
  • The vacuum chamber is equipped with a mold manipulation device and will accept molds up to 11 inches in diameter.
