Vacuum Furnace

Vacuum furnace

  • Manufactured by Vacuum Industries, this furnace is a Super VII model Vacuum Furnace.
  • The hot zone size is 8" x 8" x 20". The hot zone is an all metallic construction with molybdenum heat shields and tungsten heating elements.
  • The furnace is capable of reaching temperatures up to 1550oC.
  • Heating profile controlled by Honeywell DCP 700 programmable controller. Capability to define heat-up ramp rates, hold times and temperatures, and cooling rates. Separate over-temperature control system.
  • A series of jets located in the heat shield and attached to the gas supply lines allows quenching with argon gas.
  • Temperature and pressures recorded on a Honeywell DPR 1500 Digital Process Recorder.
  • The vacuum system is comprised of a rotary vane pump, a 6" diffusion pump, automated valves and vacuum control system. Typical vacuum levels are 10-4to 10-6 millitorr.
  • Capability of flow selected gas through system at partial pressure levels of 10-1000 millitorr.
  • Furnace is accessible from inert atmosphere glove box to allow inert loading and unloading of samples
